3 Best Substitutes For Dairy Milk

Who was the guy who first looked at a cow and said, 'I think I'll drink whatever comes out of these things when I squeeze 'em!'?
-Calvin, from "Calvin and Hobbes"

There are quite a number of people I have come across who have told me they do not like dairy products. For these people, the shakes can easily be prepared by another liquid in place of milk. Here are some ideas:

1. Soy Milk
This is a cheap, healthy alternative to dairy milk. It has almost as much protein, less fat, and no cholesterol. For the best tasting shakes, it is best to dilute them with 2 parts water first. That is to add 200ml of Water to every 100ml Soy Milk for every recipe. It has no strong flavor so it blends well with most flavors added.

2. Rice Milk
This is available in most organic stores, very diluted in taste, so it can be used straight from the carton. Blends well with most flavors, and gives a good change in the place of milk and soy.

3. Almond Milk
Don't be afraid to try out new things, and make your own batch of almond milk by soaking raw almonds overnight, blend them in a blender till smooth and use it in your shake! The texture will be slightly chunky and provides some bite to the shake. Almonds are a good source of healthy fats essential for the body too!

Remember that all the substitutes used should not be sweetened, and are best made fresh. Always try to Eat Fresh!!!
